One of the things I love most about this series is its more specific use of soldier numbers. I'm tired of the days where armies are described as "too many to count. a lot. More than double our number" being able to actually have an idea in my mind of exactly strong one side is or how many soldiers are doing something at a time helps to immerse me in this world. Especially with such a focus on military it helps make the experience. Very well done

I'm a Scottish writer, addicted to reading and writing historical fiction. My love of history was first kindled by visits to the misty Roman ruins of Britain and the sun-baked antiquities of Turkey and Greece. My expeditions since have taken me all over the world and back and forth through time (metaphorically, at least), allowing me to write tales of the later Roman Empire, Byzantium, Classical Greece and even the distant Bronze Age.
