About this ebook

Charming, hilarious, and emotional...When Sparks Fly is Helena Hunting at her very best!

Avery Spark is living her best life. Between her friends, her sisters, and Spark House, the event hotel her family owns, she doesn’t have much time for anything else, especially relationships. She’d rather hang out with her best friend and roommate, Declan McCormick, than deal with the dating scene. But everything changes when she is in a car accident and needs someone to care for her as she heals.

Declan avoids relationships, giving him a playboy reputation that he lives up to when he puts a one-night stand ahead of a promise he made to Avery. While he may not have been the one driving the car, he feels responsible for Avery’s injuries and is determined to make it up to her by stepping into the role of caretaker.

Little did they know that the more time they spend in compromising positions, the attraction they’ve been refusing to acknowledge becomes impossible to ignore. When they finally give in to the spark between them, neither is prepared for the consequences. Their love is fragile and all it will take is a blow from the past to shatter it all.

I loved the friend dynamic between our heroine, Avery, and Hero, Declan. Best friends try not to judge one another, but accept their friend for who they are, which is what happens at the beginning of this story. You should also be able to depend on your best friend when he makes a commitment to you, knowing you have concerns about driving distances in the rain. I felt all the same angry and hurt emotions Avery did when she realized WHY Declan wasn't going to be able to drive to their event together. I can understand why he did what he did the night before, but in the morning, he had a chance to make it right, but opted not to. This set the tone of the story for me regarding Declan's character. There was a lot of predictability with this story, but I did enjoy Declan's attempts to right their relationship "ship". This is probably more a 3.5 star read for me.

I love a best friends romance about friends who seem to be completely clueless about their feelings. It makes the angst and ending so much more satisfying. Avery is an amazing character. She's independent, strong, driven, and loyal. She's no push over and has no problem saying what needs to be said. I really loved everything about her. She's my favorite part of this book. I'm really hoping this is the start of a series!! There's so many opportunities for these other characters!!!

Avery and her roommate Declan have been best friends since college. After Avery is injured in an accident, Declan becomes her caregiver, leading to a new level of intimacy in their relationship. As the lines between friendship and love begin to blur, can they keep their relationship intact? My favorite part of this story is the relationship between Avery and her sisters. They're very close and understand each other well, each with different strengths. I'm looking forward to the sisters getting their own books. Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
