About this ebook

'A really entertaining thriller [that] like Michael Crichton . . . keeps ratcheting up the suspense' Booklist
____________________________

Two sisters have always stood together. Now, they're the only ones left.

In the shadow of Mount Hood in the US Pacific Northwest, sixteen-year-old Tennant is checking rabbit traps with her eight-year-old sister Sophie.

The girls are suddenly overcome by a strange vibration rising out of the forest, building in intensity until it sounds like a deafening crescendo of screams.

From out of nowhere, their father sweeps them up and drops them through a trapdoor into a storm cellar. But the noise only gets worse . . .

Read this book over two days and I don't know if I can say I liked it, but I was glued to the pages. It felt like a Stephen King novel to start and was quite graphic in parts, but you had to keep reading to see what the heck was going on. It certainly is one of the most unusual books I have read for a number of years - kind of a Stephen King, sci fi, paranormal, conspiracy theory story - can't really put it in any one genre. Am I glad I read it yes; will it stay in my brain for a while, definitely yes; do I want to think about it late at night when it is dark, maybe no. Final pages where you work out what has been happening (or do you??) was interesting. Give it a go if you want something definitely unusual.

A great read, for me this was one of James Patterson's best, a decent story containing a fantastic mystery that keeps you turning the pages right up until it's conclusion, I highly recommend this one, would make a great movie or TV show or perhaps even a graphic novel?
