I loved, loved, loved Resisting the Rancher by Kadie Scott, book two in The Hills of Texas series. This is an emotional roller coaster of a story, dealing with trust, strangers, and love. Rusty Walker has spent her entire life trying to earn respect and approval from her ranching father that she is capable of running his business, even earning a business degree. However, he does not believe that she, or any woman, is capable of running his business. If she wants to inherit she must marry a man of his approval who can help her run the business. In a fit of rebellion she agrees to work for Williams Hill training horses for barrel racing. Will kissed Rusty in an act of temporary insanity, and lost his heart to her right there, if not earlier. Despite the complications to his own rodeo stock business, he agrees to marry the feisty red-head, hoping to woo her once they're hitched. Because of her past history with men, she views him with suspicion and resentment, not sure that he wants her instead of her ranch. I felt for Rusty. She had never known unconditional love and distrusted Will motives. She enjoyed life living with his family and getting to know him better but had decided that this marriage would not last long. It was difficult for Will to convince her otherwise, knowing that he had strong feelings for her. Will was feeling that no matter what he did it was the wrong move and that he would never convince Rusty that she should choose to stay with him, love him, and let him love her. I totally loved reading this book and didn’t want to put this book down. Ms. Scott wrote a wonderful and emotional story which drew me in, making me forget the world around me and did not let me go until I turned the last page, loving the characters she created. I highly recommend this book to other reader. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I enjoyed this book as much as I did book one in the series. This one centers around Rusty Walker and Williams/Will Hills. She is an accomplish barrel racer, horse trainer, and daughter of a wealthy rancher. A man that thinks she isn’t capable of running his ranch, while in fact she is very capable . Will handles rodeo stock and is creating a name for himself and his family’s ranch . They meet at a rodeo and the chemistry is obvious, though she believes he is attracted to her only because of whom her father is. They make a deal that will benefit both of them. Though Rusty is sure it will be only a marriage of convenience that has an expiration date, Will has other plans. The plot was engaging and the characters complex. It’s a story about a family’s support or lack thereof. As well as a story about trust, goals, forgiveness and of course love. The storyline ran smoothly and if you read book 1, you will be happy to know that the characters make an appearance. Looking forward to what the author has in store for us in future books. I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley and Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
