of all the books I have read over the years, Red Storm rising has always been a favorite and yet I will only read it twice. once what I was in my twenties and now I'm in my fifties. this book to me is a timeless classic showcasing what a war between the United States NATO, and the Union of Soviet socialist Republic would have looked like. this novel to me is a wonderful read and I wish more people could read it and would read it I will always enjoy this and I hope more people will feel the same way.

Having served in Germany during the Cold War, this book was scary yet completely enthralling. I put the book down and said to myself, "This can never be made into a movie. Too realistic and possible."

Never was a big reader in high school but one day I checked this book out from my school's library just to glance it over and try to see why Tom Clancy was such a prominent name, displayed on games, bookstore shelves, and even at Walmart. Next thing I knew I'd become the most productive student possible, for me, as I was constantly finishing my work in each class as soon as possible to slide this book from my backpack, hide it under my desk, and read it. That was 17 years ago and I've yet to find another book that commanded my attention to that extent. I was enthralled.
