About this ebook

At the age of twenty-eight, Princess Ysolde Westbrook is a spinster duchess, the adopted daughter of Hindera's eccentric monarch. Commoners love their benevolent leader, but the kingdom's gentry take offense to the outsider among them. Amid noble plots and demands for her to marry a local aristocrat, an assassination attempt places her life in peril--if she will not have one of them for a husband, they would sooner see her dead.

Finding allies in strangers with powerful gifts and even darker secrets, Ysolde must learn what it means to lead and find her own inner strengths. Whether or not she survives the tangled web of treason will determine the fate of her duchy, the royal family, and the kingdom she loves.

Blend the intrigue of Game of Thrones with a touch of Outlander's romance for an adventurous fantasy in a whole new realm of magic. Fans of Diana Gabaldon and George R.R. Martin will love the richly descriptive world of Terraina and its many colorful characters.

Shadows for a Princess is an adult fairy tale full of magic, creatures and action. A story of honor, betrayal and multiple species working together for and against the royal family. Romance and friendship join together for a delightful read.

Amazing story of love and history. This is the first book in the Trials of Terraina Series. The story was believable. The characters were real and believable. Fascinating story. A good read. Well worth it. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. This didn't affect my opinion of the book

How on earth to write this review... Phew. First of all, you should know that this book is extremely well written. And I am including grammar, spelling, pacing, and plot cohesion in that statement. It kept me interested and wanting desperately to know more from start to finish, despite being a longer book. It also made me cry a few times. Bear in mind I'm easily emotional, so take that with a grain of salt. I also hate to cry, so frequently that's a very good way to make me dislike a book. Though I am still aching to some degree, I simply cannot dislike the book, and will be partaking of the next book. So good job managing THAT particularly difficult task Mrs. Kristine. Shadows for a Princess is book one of what is to be a three book set (there are currently two released) about a fantasy world of Terraina where magic, elves, and other mythical creatures exist, thrive, and fight. The main female lead is a mage princess (Ysolde) who was adopted by the king but loved as much as any child could be. The male lead is an ex-Paladin and her Knight, Geoffrey. The story is in part the development of the romance between the two, coupled with Ysolde's struggle to rule, lead, and make changes in a male dominated world. Subplots include family drama, social upheaval, treason, and political machinations. You know, any good fantasy lineup. ;) The supporting characters all lend their own depth to the story and we come to love so many of them throughout the course of the story. The characters featured in the next book (Etienne and Raennia) are introduced early on and we get little snippets of their perspective throughout as well. Overall, the book really was a magnificent ride and I'm happy I finally got around to reading it. If you like fantasy, romance, and emotional roller coasters, you must give this a shot!
