Holy cow, what a ride. This 2nd book in the Stefan Mendoza series picks up right after the first book. The pace is fast and furious, with more of Adam's fantastic world building and believable characters. The lead character, Mendoza, is a mercenary who just wants out of the intrigue and danger, but he never seems be able to pull it off. Nearly everyone wants him dead. I enjoyed seeing the cast grow and evolve, especially Chan. I'm also looking forward to the third book of the series to see how it all ends
