Im seit 2013 geführten EKD-OBKD-Dialog stellen die Gesprächspartner nicht in klassischer Weise ihre eigene Position dar, sondern versuchen, gastweise die Position des Gesprächspartners einzunehmen, um einen Beitrag zum besseren gegenseitigen Verstehen zwischen Orthodoxie und Protestantismus zu leisten. This is the central insight of the work of the Halle Professor of Studies on the Eastern Churches, Reinhard Thöle, who is honoured by this commemorative volume on the occasion of his 65th birthday. Byzantine orthodox, Greek catholic, Roman catholic and Protestant perspectives on theology, liturgy and the history of the Eastern churches and ecumenism are united in this volume. Connecting spiritual fellowship and theological dialogue is also the intention of the contributions in the appendix, a documentation of the dialogue between the Orthodox Episcopal Conference (OBKD) and the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD).
