About this ebook

His life has gone to hell. Now his heart is about to go to the dogs.

Beelzebub has the perfect job: manager-in-chief of Hell…until the number of condemned souls nosedives, and God slaps an “Out of Business” sign on the Fiery Gates. Now Beelzebub is just a laid-off demon banished to live out a mortal life in his idea of perdition: Los Angeles. Complete with nosy neighbors and a yappy, pint-sized dog that won’t stay off his lawn.

Jillian Torres is finally free of one hellish relationship and has no interest in going down that road again. So what if her best friend reports that their new neighbor is super-smoking-hot? Jillian's hands are too full running a Chihuahua rescue to notice or care…until Rufus, one of her escape-artist rescue dogs, makes a beeline for the man’s yard.

Three things hit her immediately when she meets Benjamin Blake. He’s definitely super-hot. His grumpy attitude doesn’t quite hide the sadness in his smoky hazel eyes. And Rufus adores him. Thus begins Jillian’s subversive quest to win Ben’s heart — for Rufus. But along the way, Ben and Jillian find everything they never thought they wanted.

Note: This third book in The Devil You Know series is a standalone romance with no cliffhanger. Contains a fresh-off-the-River-Styx-boat demon, a rescue-minded woman, a single-minded Chihuahua, a crime anyone with a soul would commit, and puppies.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. I read Books 1 and 2 of The Devil you Know series and enjoyed them so much that I looked forward to reading Book 3. It is a romance in the style of the first two: Beelzebub, a down-sized refugee from Hell is relocated to Los Angeles, City of the Angels. He meets a neighbor who happens to be attractive but recently divorced. Neither of them wants to start a romance, feeling they are just not suited for any kind of encounter other than just neighborly friendship. Of course, we know one thing will lead to another, but the way this unfolds is humorous, tender and touching. There are guest appearances from Book 1 and 2 as Ben remembers being betrayed by Lucifer and Asmodeus. The story is most enjoyable, the dialogue sweet, and the characters quite lovable - surprising, considering Beelzebub's previous reputation as a dour sourpuss.

Christine Pope’s “The Devil You Know Book 3” is the final chapter in this short series. Beelzebub, the last management demon after Lucifer’s departure from Hell, was totally surprised with God’s plan to shut down Hell and it’s Fiery Gates. He is banished to Earth to live as a mortal man. This does not sit well with him at all. Until Beelzebub, under the earthly name of Benjamin Blake, meets his gorgeous neighbor, Jillian Torres, who runs a Chihuahua rescue home out of her house. It becomes a struggle to keep out of each other’s way, but destiny does prevail into a romantic interlude. This last book has its moments of surprises, but all in all it’s a worthwhile read. I recommend it highly along with the other 2 previous books in the series.

Great addition to the “Devil You Know” series. Watching Benjamin Blake aka Beelzebub, one of Hell’s Lieutenants fall for a pint sized Chihuahua and then fall in love with a mortal woman was so very entertaining. Jillian was also very well written as the totally committed creator of the Chihuahua dog rescue. I am not a Chihuahua fan but I am an over the top dog lover and this hit all the feels buttons. Ms Pope just continues to write great romances with all sorts of twists and I so appreciate that. She is a must read for me and I also really appreciate there were no cliff hangers here. Looking forward to more in this series.
