About this ebook

What Is Lightweight Small Arms Technologies

The mission of the Lightweight Small Guns Technologies (LSAT) program, which is supported by the Joint Service Small Arms Program of the United States, is to dramatically cut down on the weight of small arms and the ammunition that goes along with them. The LSAT program is the United States military's most recent effort to replace already-existing small guns, following in the footsteps of a number of previous projects designed to study technological advancements in small arms. Lightening the load of small guns is the first big step toward boosting troops' lethality and survivability, according to both tactical principles and the research that was conducted as part of past small arms initiatives.
