About this ebook

This is the 20th Anniversary Edition with a new epilogue, series-hopping characters, and new Harmless details.

For a tough as nails Dom hunting a sadistic serial killer is nothing compared to losing his heart.

Rome Carino isn’t the kind of man anyone would call soft-hearted, but that’s okay. It’s one of the things that make him good at my job as a detective with Honolulu Police Department. He will need all his skills as sharp as possible while I hunt a killer targeting the popular club Rough ‘n Ready. Keeping his mind on his work is usually not a problem, but then that was before the FBI Agent Maria Callahan was assigned to the case.

Maria has always lived in her Legendary father’s shadow. She’s spent her entire life trying to live up to his high standards. She’s never been able to keep her mind on her work until she met Rome. The sexy detective scrambles her pulse and her brain, but she’s never been the kind of woman to throw herself at a man. Besides, she and Rome have a job to do. The only problem is Rome refuses.

Rome knows it’s a good plan, but an irrational protectiveness has taken hold of him. The only way he will agree to the scheme is to act as her boyfriend, which puts her up close and personal with Maria. From the start, the line between real and fake blur, and soon both of them start to fall. it is irrational.

But before they can deal with their feelings, the killer they’re hunting turns his sights on Rome, and the one person he cares about: Maria.

» WARNING: The following book contains: A man who thinks he can do no wrong, a woman who is about to teach him he can, palm trees, a trip or two to Rough ‘n Ready, a flirty Aussie with questionable motives, old friends, and a new enemy. Yeah, it might be a Harmless World book, but Addicts know it’s anything but.

The Rough n Ready series is really good at pulling at your heartstrings but Maria and Rome tug just a little bit harder. I love the suspense. It keeps you on edge. I feel the emotions from Maria and the surprise from Rome as they navigate this journey to solving the crime and finding their way through the unexpected relationship. It is always fun to revisit the other folks from the club, Micah and Evan. The writing is smooth and easy. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Rough Submission was an amazing edge of your seat book by Melissa Schroeder. Rome is a detective with the HPD and a Dom at Rough and Ready, the club owned by Micah and Evan. Someone is killing girls with a possible connection to the club. Maria is FBI living in her father's shadow. Determined to prove herself, she offers to go undercover to catch the killer, nicknamed The Dom. There is an intense attraction between Rome and Maria. Definite page turner!

About the author

From an early age, USA Today Bestselling author Melissa Schroeder loved to read. First, it was the books her mother read to her including her two favorites, Winnie the Pooh and the Beatrix Potter books. She cut her preteen teeth on Trixie Belden and read and reviewed To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school. It wasn’t until she was in college that she tried to write her first stories, which were full of angst and pain, and really not that fun to read or write. After trying several different genres, she found romance in a Linda Howard book.

Since her first published book, Grace Under Pressure, Mel has had over 60 short stories, novellas, and novels published. She has written in genres ranging from historical to contemporary to futuristic and has worked with 8 publishers although she handles most of her publishing herself. She is best known for her Harmless and Santini series.

After years of following her military husband around the country and world, Mel happily lives with her family in horse and wine country in Northern Virginia.
