Lady Katherine Wilson had postponed meeting with her grandmother’s solicitor, but she couldn’t ignore it anymore. Mr. Adamson walked her over to a warm fire to shake off the winter chill. He gave her a letter from her grandmother where it stated that when her grandmother had married, her mother made sure that her daughter would always be provided for. In England, property is immediately owned by a woman’s husband after marriage vows are said, but her mother didn’t believe a woman should be controlled by a man. So the marriage contract had been written to keep her a wealthy woman, despite her husband getting a large amount himself. But her son, Charles, Katherine’s father, is a harsh man and would like nothing more than to control Katherine. Now he could not. Her grandmother told her to marry only for love, then left her entire estate to Katherine. Katherine had ten thousand pounds in the bank, a horse farm in Sussex, and a cottage near Bath. The farm would bring in an enormous income for her each year. She would go to her father’s estate and pack, then travel to her farm in Sussex immediately to live her own life the way she wished. Katherine wants to breed the farm's mares, but the stallion she wants to use is owned by Bennett Evans, the Marquess of Holton, who does not believe a woman should be running a farm or making important decisions that are better left to a man. How long will he stubbornly fight against this strong woman who knows her mind? This was an outstanding, well-written book that I loved from the very start! It was so good to see that her grandmother took care of Katherine, as her own mother had done for her. Women could easily be left destitute in those days. Instead, having her own means of support, Katherine can develop in to the strong, intelligent woman she was destined to be. It would take a man who saw her value and loved her strength to recognize the treasure she was, net assets notwithstanding! The reader could immediately see the battle lines drawn and the humor that was bound to come out of this! Don’t miss this one – it is a joy to read!

A grandmother love. Here we have another totally awesome book where I have a love-hate relationship with some of the characters. That makes for such grand reading. Ms. Brower books are always an engaging read but this one is so full of miscommunication and conflict along with real stubbornness on the part of some of the characters you will be amazed. As you read you will see the chemistry that develops between Katherine and Bennett and will want to read more. This is a book that at times is funny and at other serious but always with passion. This was a wonderful story and I highly recommend you check it out. I know you will be glad you do. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
