I love reading Ms. Fischer's Amish books. It is one of my favorite reads. I was very excited to see she had a new book out and this one would be more contemporary. She is such a talented writer I knew I would not be disappointed. On A Summer Tide has everything you could want in a good story. It is full of love, family, faith and humor. You will genuinely care for her characters. Although the island and camp in Maine, that Paul Grayson has purchased, is not what he remembered from his collage days, it brings back wonderful memories. When the three sisters are called home for a very important meeting, the sale of their childhood home and this drastic move, is the last thing that they expected. The girls at first think maybe dad is dying, or suffering from dementia. Maybe even having a late mid-life crises. Ounce he explains to them this was a lifetime dream of his and their mothers, they are still not in on the idea. In the very first page of this novel you can see the dynamics of this family. With reluctance the girls all end up joining him in his great adventure. You will love some of the characters that live on the island. One of my favorites is Peg, a quirky middle aged owner of the diner/sundries store. She sounds quit the character with her red hair, always in short pick tails and a brightly colored head band. Life there is going to be a challenge for the Graysons. At least once or twice a day the island loses it's electric. There is no WiFi or cable, therefore no phone service, except at the dock. The big old house they are to move into is full of spiders, dust and some varmints. Not to mention the condition of the cabins. There is a faith thread woven throughout this book. The growth that each of the family members experiences is interesting and exciting. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I want to revisit this charming family. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishers through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I enjoyed every moment I spent at Three Sisters Island. Suzanne Woods Fisher created a one of a kind place, and I can’t wait to go back. The locals were so fun to get to know, although not all of them were all too friendly. The Greyson sisters took a minute to grow on me, but now that they have I can’t wait to see what they do next. On a Summer Tide focuses on Camden. She is very driven to succeed in her career and has little time for anything else, including her family. Little does she know she’s in for a surprise. Visiting an island that forces her to slow down, and focus on those around her might be the best thing that ever happened to her. Will secrets destroy the closer bonds she is forming? Can she adjust to the slower pace, or will she take her family for granted and pursue bigger and better things? I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Contemporary Romance. The island forces the sisters to learn things about themselves and grow into the people they are meant to be. I can’t wait to see what they are up to next. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishers and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

On a Summer Tide is the first book in the charming new Three Sisters Island series. The book contains believable, frustrating and lovable characters. Camden, Maddie and Blaine are Paul Grayson’s three daughters who act like typical siblings (lots of bickering). The girls have not been as close since their mother passed away and Paul wants to find a way to fix it. I thought On a Summer Tide was well-written as are all of Suzanne Wood Fisher’s novels. This story, though, is refreshingly different. It moves along at a good pace and has smooth transitions. While the focus of the story is on Camden, we interact with Paul, Blaine, Maddie, and the townspeople as well. The town contains a variety of quirky characters with my favorite being Peg Legg who owns the Lunch Counter and General Store on the island. She provides plenty of levity and I enjoyed the interactions between her and Paul. There are inserts that take readers back into Camden’s growing up years. We see how the past influenced her life choices. In addition, we get to see how her mother passed away and how Camden came to raise Cooper. I found On a Summer Tide to be a compelling story. The book touches on serious topics in a gentle way so that the story never feels heavy or depressing. There is a touch of romance that is sweet. I like the discussions of faith and the island’s church services. There are two phrases from On a Summer Tide that I want to share with you. The first is “one man’s insanity is another man’s genius” and “life is full of simple miracles if you just open your eyes to them”. I look forward to the next book in the Three Sisters Island series. You will find yourself drawn into On a Summer Tide and not want to put it down. Do not miss out on this entertaining and thoughtful new novel by Suzanne Woods Fisher.
