Can be described in one word: grey. There was little or no character development, combined with basic and repetitive dialogue and as a result I developed a level of ambivalence to the characters. The plot was as predictable as it was dull, set in a world with all logic thrown out the window. I would not read this book again if you paid me ro

In all honesty, a real struggle to read. If you're able to get over the word 'and' being used up to 7 times in one sentence, then you have the task of reading through an story that doesn't seem very fulfilling. Wasn't able to make it past the first chapter. Shame.

After finishing the book I felt I had missed something. I get the idea behind the book but it's more of a rough diamond. It's very descriptive but a little too repetitive as well. It works in describing how hard and tedious their survival is but it still makes up for 90℅ of the book which is a bit much.
About the author
Cormac McCarthy was the author of many acclaimed novels, including Blood Meridian, Child of God and The Passenger. Among his honours are the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. His works adapted to film include All the Pretty Horses, The Road and No Country for Old Men – the latter film receiving four Academy Awards, including the award for Best Picture. McCarthy died in 2023 in Santa Fe, NM at the age of 89.
