About this ebook

"Empire of Silence is epic science fiction at its most genuinely epic.  Ruocchio has made something fascinating here, and I can't wait to see what he does next." —James S.A. Corey, New York Times-bestselling author of The Expanse novels

Hadrian Marlowe, a man revered as a hero and despised as a murderer, chronicles his tale in the galaxy-spanning debut of the Sun Eater series, merging the best of space opera and epic fantasy.

It was not his war.

The galaxy remembers him as a hero: the man who burned every last alien Cielcin from the sky. They remember him as a monster: the devil who destroyed a sun, casually annihilating four billion human lives—even the Emperor himself—against Imperial orders.

But Hadrian was not a hero. He was not a monster. He was not even a soldier.

On the wrong planet, at the right time, for the best reasons, Hadrian Marlowe starts down a path that can only end in fire. He flees his father and a future as a torturer only to be left stranded on a strange, backwater world.

Forced to fight as a gladiator and navigate the intrigues of a foreign planetary court, Hadrian must fight a war he did not start, for an Empire he does not love, against an enemy he will never understand.

He's very frustrating and ridiculously dumb at times. This could have been much shorter if the author had just gotten on with it. Still, it's a valid story and better written than many.

My god, what a book!! Ive read most major fantasies and science fiction series out there, and one of the major problems is when an author tries to be more literary that they actually are, or if that literary element rarely appears. Great stories without the magical prose ha e less of a shine, and this shines like a supernova. There's a balance, you see, that only the best achieve. And some go just slightly beyond, with prose and style that doesn't insult, but leads to wonder, and appreciation, where everything is a painting, and you live the characters and qhere the story is. Rooted deep, yet without Robert Jordans incessant desire to detail every article of clothing over three pages. This book was amazing, a wonderful exploration of an incredibly vivid reality, and I enjoyed every minute. It's one of my favorite recent reads, and up there conversing with my all-time favorites. Bravo
