About this ebook

The epic tale of wrongful imprisonment, adventure and revenge, in its definitive translation

Thrown in prison for a crime he has not committed, Edmond Dantès is confined to the grim fortress of If. There he learns of a great hoard of treasure hidden on the Isle of Monte Cristo and he becomes determined not only to escape, but also to use the treasure to plot the destruction of the three men responsible for his incarceration. Dumas' epic tale of suffering and retribution, inspired by a real-life case of wrongful imprisonment, was a huge popular success when it was first serialized in the 1840s.

Translated with an Introduction by ROBIN BUSS

Absolutely the best book I've read thus far. I read two translations, this "Buss" translation (which I had to pay for) and another one that is free online. Both were great reads. In Buss' version, in "a note on the text" he states that " anyone who has only read the classic version has never read Dumas. Now, I don't read French but I would have to disagree as both books were very similar, to such a large degree that if I had it to do over, I wouldn't have bought this one. That being said, both were great!

I have really enjoyed this version of the novel. Not only that it is the most fateful complete (to my knowledge) but it is also the easiest translation of the book that I have ever read. Therefore I would highly recommend it.
