Librarian Martha Storm has always found it easier to connect with books than people, though not for lack of trying. She keeps careful lists of how to help others in her notebook. And yet, sometimes it feels like she’s invisible.

All of that changes when a mysterious book arrives on her doorstep. Inside, Martha finds a dedication written to her by her grandmother Zelda, who died under mysterious circumstances years earlier. When Martha discovers a clue within the book that her grandmother may still be alive, she becomes determined to discover the truth. As she delves deeper into Zelda’s past, she unwittingly reveals a family secret that will change her life forever.

Filled with Phaedra Patrick’s signature charm and vivid characters, The Library of Lost and Found is a heart-warming reminder that even the quietest life has the potential to be extraordinary.

Such a lovely warm, happy read! Martha Storm is everyone’s friend; she helps out not only in the local library, but carrying out many helpful tasks – so many that she always has her notebook to mark off everything on her ‘to do’ list. At times, however, she feels very much alone and unseen. Then she discovers a book which has been left for her and has a dedication which makes Martha think that her beloved grandmother, Zelda, may not be dead as she was led to believe. As she begins to probe Martha discovers more than she was bargaining for, uncovering a family secret which comes as a total shock. This is my first novel by Phaedra Patrick and I wonder how I could have missed such an obvious talent! This is a terrific read with everything going for it and I just loved everything about it. The characterisation is skilful with each one coming to life off the page. The story is tender but realistic and I found myself cheering Martha on all the way through. An absolutely delightful read; Martha Storm is not easily forgotten and I’m pleased to recommend this one. 4.5* from me.
