I was recently in Manila and they had this book out already, ahead of the 3/8 US release date. So, I snatched it up and devoured the entire thing on the international flight back to The States. This book really showed the human side of the shadowhunters from the LA institute. Flaws, eccentricities, selfish desires - all laid out beautifully for the reader. Even though she's juggling a lot of characters - Julian, Emma, Mark, Tavy, Ty, Dru, Diane, Christina, etc. you really get invested in each one's story. I'm curious about the story arc for the next two books as it relates to the main antagonist of this book - you'll see what I mean when you read it. But, I will say that as far as the arc for our two main characters, the ending of this book CRUSHED me and left me anxiously awaiting the next book.

Clare has created an amazing world with deeply rich intermingled characters and intriguing plot twists. Her writing is beautiful and so very hard to put down until the end when you just seek out more of her books. This latest book is no different and is a very enjoyable read. Looking forward to the next of this series but I'll re-read the series (again) in the meantime ;-)

I started reading the Shadowhunter books earlier this year. I finally made it to this book and I guess I didn't realize it was so new because I was a little disappointed to find out when I went to download the next book that it doesn't come out until next year! I am now anxiously awaiting the next one but in the mean time I'm going to read the Bane Chronicles and Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy. I've become addicted to these books.
