Debated giving this three stars. it's a pretty poorly written book but was extremely intersting so I'll give it 4 stars. first this is definitely one of those that reading the sample is misleading. the sample leads you to believe this is going to be a jacked in breakdown of these horrid cases Ms. Goldberg had dealt with but after the first 30 pages it quickly loses the pace and is peppered with rants and life stories. granted again these are extremely intersting it's just not the same as the first 30 pages. additionally, this is not a 300 page book. it is 240 pages and then 60 pages of references and sources which is interesting for a book that isn't notated. if you are going to spend 50 pages citing your sources I feel like it should be notated, why else take the effort? also! strong language and trigger warnings through out. nothing too graphic but it might keep you up at night.
About the author
Carrie Goldberg is a victims’ rights lawyer in Brooklyn, litigating nationally for targets of online harassment, stalking, and sexual assault. Before becoming a lawyer, Carrie spent five years working for Nazi victims, and prior to starting her firm in 2014, she was a lawyer at the Vera Institute of Justice in New York City. She has been profiled in The New Yorker, The Times (London), Glamour, Jezebel, and the New York Post, and has written op-eds for The Washington Post and The Huffington Post. Her major litigations include Herrick v. Grindr, NNAF v. John Doe, Hadley v. City of Anaheim, Anonymous v. NYC DOE, and Jane Doe 1–14 v. GirlsDoPorn.com, et al. She was featured in the documentary Netizens, and her life and work is the basis for an upcoming, fictional legal procedural television show.
