In an era where doom and gloom face us at every turn, A Sparkle of Silver is a heart-warming romantic mystery novel full of hope. Ben Thornton and Millie Sullivan are two down on their luck young adults working multiple jobs to care for others. Millie’s Grandma Joy has declining dementia and needs specialized (and expensive) care. Ben is doing everything he can to pay reparations to strangers his mother had swindled. Both have devoted themselves to their care-taking and, along the way, lost sight of themselves and the importance of having someone to turn to for yourself as well. In a moment of lucidity, Grandma Joy mentions that she is “not her father’s daughter,” sending Millie on a treasure hunt and a search for her heritage at the Chateau, a grand estate where her great-grandmother had stayed during the summer of 1929 before the Great Depression hit. Millie soon meets Ben, who is working as a security guard, and offers to share the unidentified treasure if he helps her. This twisty tale artfully blends past with present on the glamorous beach front Georgia property of the Chateau and will draw you in with its cast of likable characters. The used of mixed media as Ben and Millie discover the past through a series of letters, journals, and historical research adds to the intrigue. I highly recommend A Sparkle of Silver and I will be sure to look out for the next releases in the Georgia Coast Romance series.

I really enjoyed this book. I love historical homes, mystery, and bit of romance. This book had it all. The characters of Millie and Ben really drew me in. I could relate to Millie's grandmother's condition, as my own grandmother had dementia, and Ben was such a trooper. He was a true hero in my book, trying to pay back his mother's crimes. I thought highly of him and his willingness to work extra hard to do that. Millie was trying to care for he grandmother. I also greatly admired her for that, and could feel the pressure she was under to provide a good home for her. I loved the hint of mystery surrounding the estate and Millie's great grandmother. There were just a few parts that may have been a bit far-fetched, but it added intrigue to the story, and it didn't really bother me too much. I loved the sense of adventure of searching through an old house. I also appreciated the aspect of faith woven through the story with both characters. I would definitely recommend this book. It was an exciting read. I was provided with a copy of this book courtesy of Revell Reads program. I was not asked to give a positive review and all opinions are my own.

This is book one in the Georgia Coast Romance, so what a great place to start. This book is written in a little unique way. We have the present mixed with letters from the past. So you follow the lives of present and past characters. However, there is no confusion, it is all tied together very well. Each character is developed very well too. There is lots of history, surprise, heartache, romance and so much more all woven together to make a wonderful story. I love Millie and Ben, both have their own unique problems and personalities, yet they compliment each other well. Millie's grandmother touched a special place in my heart as well. I look forward to reading more from this series. I enjoyed finding the path both Millie and Ben would take and discovering the path the characters from the past took.
