About this ebook

In Michelle Gagnon’s debut YA thriller, Don’t Turn Around, computer hacker Noa Torson is as smart, tough, and complex as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s Lisbeth Salander.

The first in a trilogy, Don’t Turn Around’s intricate plot and heart-pounding action will leave readers desperate for book two.

Sixteen-year-old Noa has been a victim of the system ever since her parents died. Now living off the grid and trusting no one, she uses her hacking skills to stay anonymous and alone. But when she wakes up on a table in a warehouse with an IV in her arm and no memory of how she got there, Noa starts to wish she had someone on her side.

Enter Peter Gregory. A rich kid and the leader of a hacker alliance, Peter needs people with Noa’s talents on his team. Especially after a shady corporation threatens his life in no uncertain terms. But what Noa and Peter don’t realize is that Noa holds the key to a terrible secret, and there are those who’d stop at nothing to silence her for good.

Was reading the free excerpt of the novel and ran into this line:"She had been heading downtown to pick up a new video card for her MacBook Pro" Now, I don't normally nit pick stories but when the character saying/thinking this is described as a gifted hacker I would think the author would have put some basic effort into understanding computers (for those who don't know you can't upgrade/change a laptops CPU or GPU). Can't bring myself to keep reading the excerpt. Otherwise seemed like standard run of the mill writing but my suspension of disbelief has been irrevocably broken.

I thought this book was a great read, I always read with my 6 year old and it was great to find this book to read with my teenage son, the down side of it is it's very short and upon finishing the book it doesn't say anything about the follow up to it which makes it a waste of time.

Even though this book was written for young adults and I'm well pass that age, but I was intrigued! From beginning til the end I never lost interest. I will be reading the next one. Keep up the great work Michelle!
