What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Winnie and Maverick, and the potential fall-out as betrayal, jealousy and heart break find our couple facing an adversary, well known to both. The relationship between Winnie and Maverick is one of second chances. Maverick protected our heroine while in the custody of Archangel but Maverick was forced to fight in the rings, kill or be killed, and in this, our hero struggles with what was and what may be. Winnie has known for several years that Maverick is her mate but convincing Maverick takes more than she ever though possible considering Maverick believes he is unworthy of love. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and edgy, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. We are reintroduced to Maverick’s ‘brother’ and fellow pack mates: Rune, Knox, Saint, and Lowe, as well as Winnie’s brother Andrew. The requisite evil has many faces.
