What she isn’t expecting is to see him in the courtyard of Chieftain Urqhart’s castle when they all congregate there for Christmastide in the Highlands. Why is it that she feels she knows him?
Her friends are shocked by her uncharacteristic behaviour, but Bridget is determined to get to know the handsome, smiling Alec Stewart. She throws herself into the fun of the season, but her heart is in her mouth: is this real?
Will Alec feel the same way about her as she does about him?
The world of medieval Scotland in the rugged Highlands has always appealed to Fiona. Many years ago she stayed up late reading Diana Gabaldon’s CROSS STITCH, and of course, years later, when it made it to the small screen as OUTLANDER she had to watch that too! Since the publication of the adventures of Claire and Jamie in CROSS STITCH, there have been many other great authors who also love to write about Highlanders and their lives. Fiona has read many of those stories, but most of all, she likes creating her own. Fiona says: “If you delve into history you’ll find that life in medieval Scotland was very hard, and some of the most wonderful people met with a terrible fate. I like to explore ‘what might have been’ in my books - both romantically and in the many skirmishes that took place! I happily create strong heroines and stalwart heroes, and try to give them a happy ending—but they may suffer greatly getting there!”
