I read and mostly enjoyed The Three, and was just interested enough by the concept of a sequel to want to read it but not enough to buy a hard copy. Pretty glad about that. This book is good, but disappointing. From a sequel, I was (maybe naively) expecting answers of a sort. In the first couple of chapters I was excited by little references to The Three and continued expecting more of a link to it than a few throwaway names as the book continued. Without spoilers, there wasn't much more than that. If you like esoteric-ish slightly aimless horror, you might enjoy this. If like me you were expecting some kind of satisfying conclusion to the characters in the previous book and some answers more specific than "God, maybe?" give it a miss. I think Sarah Lotz had good ideas but no way to pull them together to make a cohesive, fulfilling story. Unfortunately you just get a slightly disjointed, ultimately unsatisfying book about people making bad choices on cruise ships.
