In reading this book I developed a greater world view and grew as a person. My views on many topics are now more clear and well informed, some of these are even in opposition to those in the book! I believe more effort needs to be dedicated to the possibility that AI will be able to reflect and reason about moral issues. I would highly recommend this book, especially to those in highschool and university.
About the author
William MacAskill is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Oxford University. His academic work spans a breadth of fields within normative philosophy, including practical ethics, population ethics, social choice theory and decision theory. MacAskill is the cofounder of Giving What We Can, 80,000 Hours, the Centre for Effective Altruism and the Oxford University-based Global Priorities Institute.
