A book for children AND adults, and families together. Adventures, solid values, worthwhile life lessons, vanquished villains — this one has it all! And who knew William Steig was such a Buddhist? When Dominic the Dog heads out to seek his fortune, he meets animals of all kinds, narrowly escapes danger and bad guys, makes fascinating friends, attends a wedding, finds treasure — all while living life in the moment and being a model citizen. By the end, you won’t JUST want to meet Dominic, you’ll want to BE Dominic! It’s a lovely story, full of humor. And I can’t imagine a better book to spark family conversations about how to live a good life and what’s truly important. Or to reflect on your own existence. Don’t miss this! It’s the kind of book you’ll want to own and revisit.

This is my favourite book. I first read it when I was about eight and I loved it so much that I read it seven times in a row. Beautifully written and illustrated. Even as an adult it did not disappoint. Surprisingly deep and philosophical, as Dominic learns about life, death, friendship and love on his travels.
