Giambattista Basile (1566-1632) è autore de Lo cunto de li cunti, la prima raccolta europea di fiabe popolari. Molte delle sue fiabe, tutte scritte in napoletano, ebbero imitatori: confluendo nelle celebri Cenerentola e Il gatto con gli stivali di Perrault o il Corvo e l’Amore delle tre melarance di Gozzi. Una traduzione delle fiabe in italiano è stata realizzata da Benedetto Croce nel 1925.
Gennaro Matino, parroco napoletano e scrittore, è editorialista di Avvenire, Il Mattino e la Repubblica.
