About this ebook

Every New Zealander knows Tim Shadbolt. We know him for his wide-mouthed smile, inimitable oratory, constant proximity to controversy, and standing up for the average Kiwi. But A Mayor of Two Cities reveals plenty we don’t know: scandals, achievements and adventures. Written in Tim’s unique style and showing his true brilliance for storytelling, this thorough autobiography takes us from Tim’s childhood days in West Auckland to his 2007 battle with the government over fees. He takes us through his protesting student adventures, his commune life, his political radical days, and the era in which he was the controversial mayor of Waitemata City. But that’s not all...

About the author

Tim Shadbolt is a national icon (not to mention a local hero in Invercargill). He is known for his wide-mouthed smile, wicked sense of humour, standing up for causes and supporting the average kiwi. Tim is New Zealand’s longest serving mayor and is now enjoying his sixth term as Mayor of Invercargill. In the past Tim has written numerous books on subjects ranging from concrete to film-making, as well as his “early” biography Bullshit and Jellybeans (published in 1971). As well as his political career, Tim is also widely remembered as a student activist and “concrete contractor with a cause”. These days Tim finds time to write a weekly column for two newspapers, stars in and presents television programmes and is sought after as a celebrity speaker.
