Their journey is a slow burn mixed with ups and downs and the realization that not all love is lost or bad. They find more family than they ever expected. I loved this book! The age gap wasn't too much, in fact, it was just right. I didn't even think about it until the odd time it was touched on. I love that Detta is such a strong character all on her own. Her resiliency shined through. Conroy is fierce and I loved the attention he gave to her son. Such a good book!
