I've been a Trek fan since before TNG but don't read Trek novels much these days because they are all a series or a newly invented crew or continuation beyond the last episodes to 'continue the canon" forward, none of which I'm interested in as a read. But this is what I wanted...a one off, intelligent story with my favorite characters acting like they would in their standard places as if in the middle of their original missions. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Mel Gilden is the author of numerous children's books. His multi-part stories for children appeared frequently in the Los Angeles Times. He has also written multiple Star Trek tie-in novels. His short stories have appeared in many original and reprint anthologies. He lives in Los Angeles, California.
