Growth in Enemies-to-Lovers Midlife Romance -- I have now read several books by this author in two different series, and I like the way she evokes a sense of place. This book and its series take place on Summer Island, and the author describes just enough (without going overboard) so you feel like you are there and can see the location as if looking through the characters’ eyes. I lived on the coast for some time, and what she describes is accurate to my memory of living by the sea. This book feels like half chick lit and half enemies-to-lovers romance--a great combo. I wasn't wild about Dustin at first, with his “I'm ever so important” big-city ways. I love, love, love that this romance involves middle-aged people. Romance novels usually focus on early (twentysomething) first loves, but I think middle-aged characters can make for a far richer story (in the hands of the right author) because they have, hopefully, lived complex and varied lives before the current romance… and have baggage that needs serious unpacking. Both the hero and heroine have regrets; both come to understand themselves (and each other )better and grow in the process. I always love that when it happens in a book. I also liked that the author was able to have some chapters end on mini cliffhangers; that certainly keeps you reading! I do have one quibble. Could somebody actually force the demolition of a property known to be owned by someone... someone who can easily be contacted? It doesn't seem like that should be able to happen. Anyway, I enjoyed this visit to Summer Island, and I look forward to the next one. -- I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This is book two in A Friendship Beach series and it is Trace and Dustin's story. Trace is an ocean activist and she fights hard for all the sea life and even though the big shots always win she still carries on but when her childhood home has been put for demolition she is tired, angry but still determined to fight until the end to stop it from happen even if she has to go up against Dustin Hawk and let the best person win. I absolutely loved how all these friend's were there to help and support each other regardless of the situation and this story certainly pack's a punch and I couldn't put it down and had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next and who would win in the end. This book was so well written and kept your attention throughout and I definitely recommend you read this book and series and you will not be disappointed. I Voluntarily Reviewed a Copy of This Book.
