Another enjoyable story in this series that kept me quite engage as I read about Dunstan a Gargoyle and Anemone a museum curator. Anemone morns the loss of her husband, Morgan, who died at sea and works in the nautical dept in the museum restoring boats. Anemone just moved into her new apartment and is fostering a mother cat with kittens she named Bruce Wayne. Bruce escaped but she found homes for the kittens. That night it started to downpour and worried for Bruce she looks for her and finds her in the bathroom when the roof collapsed on top of her and exposed electric wires dance around her. Dunstan the protector of her apartment building lives within the walls hears Anemone scream and saves her and Bruce. After their close call renames Bruce to Lucky. Next day, Dunstan who suffers from memory loss catches Anemone crying and comforts her. What occurs in an engaging story that I enjoyed reading with very personal characters who are suffering from loss and finding hope and love as they band together to break a curse in this ARC that I volunteer to read and review.

A widow whos husband was lost at sea trying to figure out how to get through life alone. An accident leads to a mysterious protector saving her life. The relationship that builds between the two main characters is kind of a slow burn the hero thinks she is married and her husband is at sea but when he finds out that she is actually a widow and she is attracted to him the relationship takes a beautiful turn. I loved this book, the fact that it ties in beautifully with Broken Chains and the plot that took place in that book was so amazing, and the lead in to meet the 3rd brother I can not wait for Broken Dreams.

So, I have a soft spot for gargoyles (irony intended). Anemone lost her husband and unborn child. A rescued cat (Bruce Wayne). a child’s shoe leads a newly awoken gargoyle in Dunston to Anemone. Recommend.
