Arthur Upfield

Arthur William Upfield (1890–1964) was an English Australian writer of detective fiction, best known for his famous character Det. Insp. Napoleon “Bony” Bonaparte of the Queensland Police Force. He traveled Australia for two decades and learned about the indigenous culture which contributed extensively to his written works. He became a major figure of international crime fiction, and was the first non-American to become a member of Mystery Writers of America.
