Bill O'Neal

Bill ONeals interest in the cattlemen-sheepherder conflict began with boyhood visits to his uncles sheep ranch, where a quarrelsome cowboy was killed in an 1889 gunfight. Bills great-grandfather was a Texas drover who fought in a murderous Lampasas County range war in the 1870s. With pioneer ancestors on both sides of the strife, Bill determined to compile a book-length history of this important Western struggle. The author of more than twenty books, Bill is a member of the Western Writers of America and of numerous historical organizations. Bill has appeared on television documentaries that have aired over TBS, The Learning Channel, TNN, The History Channel, and the BBC. Bill is a longtime history instructor at Panola College in Carthage, Texas, and his wife, Karon, chairs the math department and assists with each of Bills book projects.
