Claire Shipman was born on October 4, 1962 in Washington, D. C. She is a 1986 graduate of Columbia College of Columbia University and also holds a master's degree from Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs. Shipman was the White House correspondent for NBC News and a reporter for CNN in Moscow, where she earned multiple awards for her coverage of the demise of the Soviet Union. She is the senior national correspondent for ABC News' Good Morning America and a regular on This Week with George Stephanopoulos. With Katty Kay, she wrote the books Womenomics and The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance - What Women Should Know; both of which became listed on the New York Times bestseller list.
