Ernest Buckler

ERNEST BUCKLER was born in Nova Scotia in 1908 and was educated at Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto, where he received his ma in Philosophy in 1930. Mr Buckler has published extensively in many periodicals, including Maclean’s, Chatelaine, The Canadian Home Journal, and The Atlantic Monthly. His first full-length novel, The Mountain and the Valley, appeared in 1952, and has received widespread critical acclaim in both Canada and the United States. Mr Buckler returned to his native Nova Scotia in 1936 and has lived there ever since, successfully combining the two careers of farming and writing.
