Gonzalo de Berceo

Gonzalo de Berceo belongs to the literary tradition called "mester de clerecÍa," composed of clergy and men of letters. He was educated in the monastery of San Millan (La Rioja), where he acted as a secular clergyman, and was later a deacon and a priest.
