James Malcolm Rymer

Born in Clerkenwell, London, in 1814, James Malcom Rymer was the writer of Victorian mysteries and gothic horror. He serialised many of his stories in penny dreadfuls and more than one of his works have also been attributed to Thomas Peckett Prest. Having created the notorious demon barber Sweeney Todd, written Varney the Vampire and many other tales, Rymer died in 1884.
