Jim Murphy

Jim Murphy went to many places, did many things, met many people, and learned much along the way. His Memoir, written with humor and insight between 2022-2024, encapsulates his life in the context of the time he lived and the countries he worked in. His goal is to help his grandchildren live happy, productive lives but anyone can read his stories and learn something new and refreshing. Jim completed school in New Zealand where he also attended university. He began life as a teacher before working in universities around the South Pacific, Southeast Asia and South Africa to support the professional development of academic staff. He also tried his luck as an entrepreneur in Malaysia. Jim called home in 10 countries over his lifetime. He learned from Canadians, New Zealanders, Australians, Papua New Guineans, Solomon Islanders, Bruneians, Singaporeans, Malaysians, South Africans and Thais. His fascinating stories are from these places and describes a life that cannot be repeated in the future. His memoir is of a 'common man' and deserves attention because of it. He is retired and lives on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
