J. Gresham Machen (1881-1937) was one of the 20th century's foremost New Testament scholars and theologians. A stalwart defender of historic, reformed Christianity and one of the last of the 'Old Princeton' theologians, he authored such texts as Christianity & Liberalism, The Origin of Paul's Religion, The Virgin Birth of Christ, and even a Greek grammar that is still in use today. Machen is best known for providing much of the intellectual and apologetic artillery for the conservative cause during the so-called 'Fundamentalist-Modernist' controversy. He also spearheaded the founding of Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia as well as the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC), both of which remain faithful witnesses to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus nearly 100 years after their inception.
