K. Buchholz

Born in 1941, Klaus Buchholz studied chemistry at the universities of Saarbrücken und Heidelberg (Germany), receiving a PhD from the TU Munich. In 1981 he qualified as a professor at the TU Braunschweig, where he then became department head at the Institute for Agricultural Technology and Sugar Industry. Since 1991 he is Professor for Technology of Carbohydrates at the Institute for Technical Chemistry. His main research areas include biocatalysts and enzymatic processes for the synthesis of saccharides and environmental biotechnology. He is also the author of a well-known textbook on biocatalysts and enzyme technology and an active member of various working groups and boards in the biotechnology academic and industrial communities.
