Louise Nelson (pen name for Jody Calkins) grew up in the Minnesotan woods and now lives in rural Virginia with her family. She has a degree in classical studies and literature, loves studying languages, and writes novels for children and teenagers. She and her husband owned a small chicken farm in Colorado for a few years. And that’s where she got the inspiration to write Chickens, Girls, and Other Life Problems. Needless to say, she knows a thing or two about taking care of five hundred “stupid, crummy” chickens. If you would like to follow her for book news and updates on the writing life, you may do so here:louisenelson.com
