Mel Thompson is the author of a range of bestselling books on religion, philosophy and ethics. After studying theology and philosophy, he was ordained into the Anglican Church and became chaplain to a cancer hospital, before leaving for a career in Religious Education. Following some years of Buddhist practice, he now describes himself as a humanist, but one who sees the value of religion for giving a sense of direction and purpose in life. Most of his books are designed for students and for those wanting a basic introduction to aspects of Philosophy and Ethics. However, 'Through Mud and Barbed Wire', his first self-published work, is different, for it is also about his own struggle with religious belief. Information about his books, along with free notes on Philosophy of Religion and Ethics for students, can be found on his website: www.philosophyandethics.com
