About this app

The official app for Citi Bike, NYC’s bike share system.

Citi Bike consists of a fleet of specially designed, sturdy and durable bikes that are locked into a network of docking stations throughout the city. Our bikes can be unlocked from one station and returned to any other station in the system, making them ideal for one-way trips. Bike share is a greener, healthier way to get around — whether you’re commuting, running errands, meeting friends, or exploring in a new city.
The Citi Bike app gives you access to thousands of bikes in your area — unlock and pay directly from the app and get going.

The Citi Bike app also shows upcoming public transit departures, including MTA subway trains, shuttles, local, limited, & express buses, LIRR commuter rail trains, Metro-North commuter rail trains, PATH rapid transit trains, Bee-Line local & express buses, NYC Ferries, the Staten Island Ferry, the AirTrain JFK, the AirTrain Newark, the Roosevelt Island Tramway, and NJT commuter rail trains, light rail trains, & buses.

Within the app, you can purchase the following Citi Bike passes:
Single ride
Access pass
Membership

Happy riding!

One tiny flaw ruined the whole experience for me - you can't rent more than 2 bikes at once. Visiting New York, wanted to bike around central park but only had one phone for 3 people. You just can't do it. If they allowed 3 or more rentals at once on the same account/app, we would have been riding all day. As it was, Uber got our money on this trip. Sadly uninstalling this app.

If you're visiting New York City, want this app for the bikes and want to ride an ebike, don't pay for the "Day Pass". It's not what it sounds like and it's purposefully vague at first blush to get you to spend more money than you need to. You'll be charged for the day pass, 19 dollars, but it will only cover the unlock fee, which is 5 dollars. Then you'll be charged for the ride entirely. I spent 40 dollars for a 25 dollar ride and they don't offer refunds once you use the day pass free unlock.

bikes in general are ok, but some need repair. prices are high and could have a better system to quickly return bikes that are hard to pedal or need repair. website and app have little to no information on details of costs per mile and time or free rides. so you kind of have to learn by trial and error that costs money how to take advantage of the free rides and use your riding time wisely before charges rack up. they should be more upfront and transparent proving details
