Features available in this premium version: * Reading aloud (via Android text-to-speech) * Google Translate and DeepL integration * Built-in support for PDF and comic book formats
FBReader opens DRM-free ebooks and ebooks protected with Readium LCP.
The primary ebook formats supported in FBReader are ePub (including the main features of ePub3), PDF, Kindle azw3 (mobipocket), and fb2(.zip). Other supported formats include comic books (CBZ/CBR), RTF, doc (MS Word), HTML, and plain text.
To assist reading in a foreign language, use FBReader's dictionary integration to look up words or phrases. You can choose from a wide selection of external dictionaries.
In FBReader Premium, you can translate sentences directly in the app using the integrated Google or DeepL translator.
FBReader supports sync of your library and reading positions with the FBReader book network (https://books.fbreader.org/), a Google Drive™ based cloud service. The synchronisation is off by default; to enable and configure it, use the preferences dialogue.
FBReader is fast and highly customisable. It can use external TrueType/OpenType fonts and custom backgrounds, adjust the screen brightness while reading (slide finger up/down along the left screen edge), and select different day/night colour schemes.
This reader also includes a browser/downloader to access network ebook catalogues and stores. Custom OPDS catalogues are supported, too.
Alternatively, you can download books manually and save them on your device in the folder Books.
In addition, the reader is localised for 34 languages and includes hyphenation patterns for 24 languages.

After the last update, the font has changed, and giant margins appeared on the right. The settings haven't changed on their own. Reducing the right margins to 0 makes it slightly better but doesn't fully solve the problem. Changing the font doesn't affect the application.

Switched from this app to Moon reader pro because of much better TTS support there. I know TTS plugin is not developed by you guys, but for me this is a must-have-right functionality and an app experience. Maybe you might want to put TTS support inside the app. On the other side, I love your app's eco system (synchronization, online library, OPDS catalogue support)

Cannot reliably read basic PDFs. No longer functions properly on external storage. Deleting books from within the app appears to work, but does nothing. Cannot sort library properly; library refuses to find books; kludge after kludge instead of redesigning the app to work right on Android 9 & later. Invasive permissions. Devs do not respond, but do take your money. This is a dated and frustrating app now. You will be unhappy if you buy it. True that!
