About this app

Opal Travel is the official app for managing your travel across the public transport network in Sydney (Australia), and surrounding regions. Use the app to plan trips, top up your Opal balance, view trip and transaction history, and access other useful information all on your Android device. Opal Travel can be used with both registered and unregistered Opal cards.

With this app you can:
- Plan trips and see fare estimates
- View and top up your Opal balance on the go
- Register your Opal card or credit/debit card you use to catch public transport
- View travel history and transactions for both Opal and credit/debit card tap ons
- Set up automatic balance top ups
- Report an Opal card as lost or stolen and transfer the balance to another Opal card
- Get location-based alerts when approaching your stop
- Get notifications about delays and disruptions specific to your trip
- Check weekly travel rewards
- Scan your Opal card with your device to check tap on status, account balance and weekly travel rewards (compatible NFC-enabled Android devices only)
- See Opal retailer locations on a map

For 3 months or so, the app no longer shows you upcoming bus departures if they are more than 15 minutes from current time. And it will only show one departure instead of the next 3. If you're lucky. Sometimes you can load earlier or later departures, but not always. Sometimes busses that do run don't show in the app at all as an option. I'm presented with the option of walking 50% of the time, instead of just showing me when the next busses are, no matter what time that is. Please stop this.

Love this app. Time estimations are not always correct, but they are as close as possible considering all the variables. It's so easy to learn and intuitive. It's great you can save the usual routes for time optimization and that you get notifications if there are any delay issues or sudden changes as well as scheduled maintenance. Best transportation app I've ever used.

Lots of things to work on. 1) if train is late, app does not show it as an option. Google maps do. 2) Notifications about new feature cannot be closed - very annoying. 3) why limit window of transport disruption notifications to 14 hours? Why not 18 hours, does it cost out much more to add 4 hours, or remove the limit? Useless feature otherwise, as cannot rely on it. Upd: no trains, ever on the weekend.
