A congenial, fun-loving host, a huge, well-appointed country estate, and a clutch of old friends arriving for the weekend. What could go wrong? The appearance on this entertaining scene of Scotland Yard's Chief Superintendent Alleyn means something went very wrong indeed. Adding more confusion is the party game this group of friends was playing. The game's rules leave two dead men but only one corpse. And Alleyn has to uncover two suspects...but only one murderer.
