About this audiobook

A no-nonsense and helpful guide on how to cope with a slew of mental-health issues that are hell-bent on ruining the lives of millions of people worldwide

Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes―having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it’s not good to do these things, but it can’t help it sometimes―especially if it’s obsessing about trauma it can’t overcome. That’s where this life-changing book comes in.

With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what’s going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately to the nonemergencies of everyday life, and to deal effectively with old, or newly acquired, traumas (particularly post-traumatic stress disorder).

Unfortunately the recording sounds like it was done in someone's kitchen. The author tried way too hard to be hip with pop culture references, lingoisms and with what I can only describe as a "melodically abrasive" delivery. I get that it is supposed to be easily accessible to it's intended audience but there actually doesn't need to be SO much swearing and emotion in the delivery. The result is fatiguing and detracts from the intended message.

Unfortunately the narration ruined it for me. She tried too hard to sound cool with the swearing but she more sounded like someone who has never sworn before. The whole way she read it just sounded fake. It also sounded like she was reading in a bathroom. I just had to stop listening and couldn't finish it. Maybe the ebook would have been better. I don't really remember much of what it was about as the way it was narrated distracted me from what the book was actually about.

I find the audio from the reader of this book echo's and personally, I cant even force myself to listen to it. In addition, the writer's use of curse words is excessive as if a toddler just learned a dirty word. The combination of this means I will never finish listening to this audiobook and feel it was a complete waste of money.
