About this audiobook

A 2020 Audie Award Finalist

From YouTube star and Facebook Video sensation Laura Clery comes a collection of comedic essays in the vein of We Are Never Meeting in Real Life by Samantha Irby and You’ll Grow Out of It by Jessi Klein.

Laura Clery makes a living by sharing inappropriate comedy sketches with millions of strangers on the Internet. She writes songs about her anatomy, talks trash about her one-eyed rescue pug, and sexually harasses her husband, Stephen. And it pays the bills!

Now, in her first-ever book, Laura recounts how she went from being a dangerously impulsive, broke, unemployable, suicidal, cocaine-addicted narcissist, crippled by fear and hopping from one toxic romance to the next…to a more-happy-than-not, somewhat rational, meditating, vegan yogi with good credit, a great marriage, a fantastic career, and four unfortunate-looking rescue animals. Still, above all, Laura remains an amazingly talented, adorable, and vulnerable, self-described…Idiot.

With her signature brand of offbeat, no-holds-barred humor, Idiot introduces you to a wildly original—and undeniably relatable—new voice.

As a former addict myself, I completely relate to her. My best friend was reading this book shortly before she ODed on Mother's Day 2021. I'm now raising her son as mine, with my 3 biological children. Being an addict is not fun. over coming being an addict is a beautiful thing, and Miss Laura, you are an amazing human being. Now I'm off to listen to her second book...

I had been begging my husband to buy this book for me. but after deep thought, I realized with being in healthcare and having three children. I hardly had time to shower. let alone sit down and read a book. so i got the audio which i loved that she read her own book. although i found out real quick it's a very adult book.i bought headphones to finish it. and would listen to it on the way to work or on my break.i love how honest she was in her book. and impressed with how much she had remembered in her life. I have a hard time with remembering what day it is. lol. like many others i had a dream of becoming something more than iam. her book helped me realize that it's still possible.
