Once again Allison Brennan has delivered an incredible thriller with Cold as Ice. I could not put it down. I loved every page. I love the relationship between Lucy and Sean and all the descriptions of locations in Texas and Mexico. Cold as Ice includes all the plot twists and turns, and the occasional bittersweet moment that I have come to expect and enjoy in Allison Brennan's incredible stories. Cold as Ice is the seventeenth story in the Lucy Kincaid series and I think that it might be my favorite story in the series. Lucy Kincaid is an FBI agent in San Antonio, and Sean is her husband, who is a jack of all trades, from private investigator to security consultant. There is a lot of action in this story and it begins on the first page and does not let up until the end of the story. Elise Hansen has turned eighteen and has been released from the juvenile detention center with a clean slate. Elise and her father, Jimmy Hunt are out for revenge against anyone who played a r0le in the deaths of Nicolle Rollins, and Tobias Hunt and the loss their money. The story starts with the disappearance of Kane Rogan in Mexico after rescuing missing girls and he goes in search of Peter Blair, who is behind the trafficking. This is followed by death of Mona Hill in Houston, which leads to the arrest of Sean Rogan for her murder. Then FBI agent, Nate Dunning is arrested when cocaine is discovered in his trunk of his car parked at the courthouse and he is detained. Then DEA agent, Brian Donnelly is kidnapped. Nate and DEA agent, Aggie Jensen work together to uncover the source of the cocaine that was found in Nate’s car. The team knows that Elise and her father know are behind the events, but they have no way to prove it and no one in the police departments will believe them. I love the surprise plot twist, about who was funding the revenge plot. I love how Allison Brennan kept me guessing who was behind the plan. I was on the edge of my seat, hoping that everything would be resolved and Sean and Brian would be rescued. Truly a surprise to discover who funded the Hunts mission. Cold as Ice had me guessing as to who was the mastermind behind all the events and illegal activities throughout the story. I love how Allison Brennan always writes about strong women: Lucy, Aggie, and all the other FBI agents. They are amazing women. I loved Lucy’s strength in dealing with Sean’s arrest and kidnapping and Sean’s vulnerability when he is discovered. Once again, Allison Brennan proves that she is a master storyteller and that is why I love her books. All her books are always a must read for me. My favorite part of Cold as Ice is how all the Rogan and Kincaids work together to solve all the events of the revenge plot put into action by the Hunts. I absolutely loved Cold as Ice. It was an incredible story.
